2011 Family Fair

The class again did the first two shifts in the barbeque chicken booth. We deferred the Portugese Bean soup to the next class. Thanks to Tsuda for again taking the lead and thanks to whoever else helped in the organization.

I got there a little after 11:15 am, the designated first shift start time. Tsuda was already there as were Milt, Russ, Lei and Howard Lee. Eventually, Bruce Ames, Mumper, Boogie and Campbell showed up. By the end of the shift we had quite an efficient operation going.

I left at around 2:00 pm when the second shift started. By the time I left Mo, Takemoto, Blob, Miles and Tom Wong had shown up. I missed anyone who showed up after 2:00 pm.

You can view some of my pictures by clicking on the slideshow icon in the right sidebar.

The King and I

From Emmett via Mumper:

After we finish auditioning "The King And I", I'll be able to let you know how many Iolani Alumni and students will be involved in this show. So far, Greg Zane, Iolani class of '81 is the visiting Director and Chorographer from NYC, who was also in the 1996 revival of this show. I am the Musical Director, My wife is in the orchestra pit with me. There will be others from Iolani as well, but I won't know for certain until Tuesday of next week. Hopefully, I will be able to get pictures too. We will also have a visiting New York actor by the name of Paolo Montalban who will do the role of the King. People would be familiar with him as he was the Prince in the latest television production of Cinderella with Brandy.

Aloha, Emmett.

PS. We should have an Iolani night or matinee at the theater for this show. I don't have the time to organize it since I will be rehearsing the show every night, but I can refer anyone who wants to take that on as a project, to someone at the theater. We may be able to get special pricing and/or special seating. We gotta do this quick since it will be a sure fire sell out as well as being extended. We open March 25th and run 3 weekends Thursday through Sundays with matinees on Saturday and Sunday. I would recommend a Sunday Matinee at 4:00 PM.

Iolani Bulletin

As most of you already know, Bob Mumper has agreed to take over the Iolani Bulletin class scribe duties from Mo.  If you have any news for him to publish, email him the information.  We'll still maintain this blog and hopefully get more information here.  We'll also publish pictures from class events since the bulletin will be limited.
